Join MBCERT!
MBCERT aims to educate and prepare the community with the knowledge needed to act accordingly in the event of a disaster. We welcome you to join us in our efforts through the events we host and with the resources that we offer. We offer the FEMA-approved CERT class each Spring and Winter. This is a 20-hour, 3-day class taught by specially-trained MBCERT members and the Manhattan Beach Fire Department. Classes are hands-on and include: disaster preparedness, fire suppression, medical triage and victim treatment, search and rescue, team organization and management, disaster psychology and communications. You will become familiar with a variety of equipment and supplies on our vehicles to assist in community disasters. Each MBCERT graduate receives a backpack with emergency supplies, official MBCERT hardhat and vest along with a photo ID.
To become an MBCERT member, you must attend our training class. The Manhattan Beach Fire Department will cover the cost for those who live or work in Manhattan Beach. We ask that you send a check for $60.00 payable to MBCERT as a deposit to reserve your space in the class, along with your email address. The check will be returned to you on completion of the class. The deposit is non-refundable if you do not attend the class. For non-residents/workers, the cost is $60.00. Classes have a limited number of participants, who must be 18 years or older to attend. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis with priority for those who live or work in Manhattan Beach. For more information, please email info@mbcerta.org.
